Legal professionals need to know when federal, state and local laws and regulations change. The following list includes laws and regulations that have changed since last week’s edition, as well as some recently enacted legislation that may impact child care services.
NY City agencies that suffer a data breach involving the private identifying information of individuals will be required to promptly disclose that breach to the City’s Chief Privacy Officer and to the Office of Cyber Command, and provide copies of such disclosures to the affected individuals. This bill would amend NYC law to align with requirements of the State’s SHIELD Act, and make other changes to the City’s privacy laws.
This legislation would require that a person who is authorized to sign for a minor under the custody of the child’s guardian or parent be authorized to do so by written order issued by the court in which the minor is being placed. It would also establish procedures for such authorizations to be challenged and revoked, and to provide that, if the custody of a minor is terminated, the child must return to his or her guardian.
This bill would establish a requirement for the Department of Citywide Administrative Services, in consultation with the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, to prepare a notice regarding student loan forgiveness programs to be provided to City agency employees and job applicants.
