‘Entertaiment’ refers to a variety of activities that entertain people in different contexts. Generally, entertainment involves an aesthetic impact that is often enjoyable or even gratifying.
The aim of this article is to provide a definition for entertaiment stemming from various definitions in a multidisciplinary dialogue with the management area. Bibliographical research was used to list previous definitions that were analyzed through qualitative research proceedings, and an original systematic process led to entertainment definitions based on product, experience, culture and communication notions. The research outcomes help build more solid entertainment academic discussions and clearer and wider entertainment materializations.
A good example of an entertaining story is Scheherazade from the Persian professional storytelling tradition that inspired a number of musical compositions, a film and a video game.
