Entertainment can take many forms. It can be an activity for a single person such as reading a book, or it can be something as large as a performance intended for thousands of people. It can be playful and lighthearted, such as a joke told at a dinner party, or it may be serious and even a political statement as in the case of a speech given to an international audience. [1]
When writing about entertaiment, it is important to engage the senses of your reader. By using vivid and detailed descriptions of what the character is seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and feeling your reader will be able to feel like they are right there in the scene with them. This technique is known as “painting pictures with words” and it is the key to successful entertainment writing. For example, instead of saying a car drives fast, write about how the car zipped through the winding roads at 80 miles per hour.
